Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Strong technical fundamentals of internal combustion engine operation.
- 4+ years of experience with design release and/ or development of air induction, hot end exhaust and cold end exhaust systems.
- Familiar with various relevant North American emissions standards and homologation requirements.
- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment with colleagues from vehicle integration, concept team, purchasing, manufacturing, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills including accountability, self-motivation, problem solving, analytical thinking, succinct communication and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring that the air induction (airbox, snorkel, air filter) and exhaust (hot end: catalytic converter & GPF; cold end: silencer & heat shields) systems meet program targets for packaging, cost, mass, and timing for the Harvester range extender Powertrain integral to the Scout Terra pick-up and Traveler SUV platform.
- Function as technical liaison between Scout Engineering, engineering services contractors, Tier 1 suppliers, and internal Volkswagen Group partners to develop and mature the air induction and exhaust systems.
- Approve and/ or release 3D CAD and 2D drawings into Scout PLM systems.
- Collaborate with Powertrain Development & Validation colleagues to ensure that air induction and exhaust systems achieves technical requirements.
- Manage implementation of engineering changes as needed throughout development, and post-launch.
- Manage delivery of prototype hardware builds with Tier 1 suppliers and internal Volkswagen Group partners to support on-time prototype testing and vehicle builds.
- Develop documentation necessary to scope work products for external engineering partners as needed.
- Be a part of the vision of engineering excellence and a source of powertrain knowledge.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with gasoline engine calibration.
